The College of Medicine, University of Nigeria, Ituku Ozalla campus has changed leadership with the emergence of Prof. Chidi Nwagha as the new Provost.
On a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, the new Provost appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for his efforts at giving the College a face-lift. He however called the attention of the Vice-Chancellor to some challenges in the College which he listed to include; reviving grant institutions, erecting new office blocks, laboratory and the aesthetic beautification of the college. He beckoned on Management to consider them as this would boost the ranking of the College in the world.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Benjamin Ozumba while noting the problems, stated that most of the challenges were already being solved. He added that new office buildings would be erected at the end of the year and efforts were being made by the administration to partner with foreign Universities in the USA, Switzerland and Iran to boost the learning and practising of medicine in the college.
The Vice-Chancellor further challenged the new Provost to think outside the box, being that the College of Medicine has been granted autonomy even to the extent of having its own TSA account which is the first of its kind in the country.
